The objective of this article was to present the main associations in biological complications in implant prostheses. As a research methodology, a systematic literature review was used, through a search on the SciELO, PubMed and CAPES Periodicals platforms. The keywords were “dental implant”, “implant prosthesis” and “biological complications”. The search resulted in a series of national and international articles, which, filtered by the direct relationship with the theme and with a ten-year time frame, identified the main results of current scientific literature on the most frequent associations in biological complications in implants. Based on this study of peri-implant health, peri-mucositis, peri-implantitis, other systematic diseases, and with an emphasis on an observational and retrospective study of biological complications carried out between 2016 and 2021, it was concluded that there are a prevalence of peri-implantitis in patients rehabilitated with implants, with a higher incidence in females. The indicators demonstrated that the frequency of complications is higher in implants that have not been subject to rehabilitation, followed by crown rehabilitations, and rehabilitation in implant prostheses is in 3rd position. Furthermore, it was observed that the greater the need for implant placement, the greater the likelihood of developing complications.
