Abstract

The aim of this article was to assess the survival and success rates of immediate implants in esthetic areas. This theme is important because it can improve the technique and influence patients' self-esteem and well-being. To carry out this study, an integrative literature review was carried out. Thus, searches were carried out in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Online Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System (MEDLINE via PubMed) databases, using the following keywords: “dental implants”, "immediate implants" and "aesthetic" or "dental implants", "immediate implants" and "aesthetic". Publications related to the topic, published between 2016 and 2021 in Portuguese or English and available in full, were included in the study. With the study, it was possible to conclude that the placement of immediate implants offers many advantages for the patient and the clinician, maintaining the height of the peri-implant soft tissues and increasing the peri-implant bone density. Furthermore, immediate occlusal loading may be associated with reductions in patient pain, procedure time, and reduction in the amount of material to be used.
