The two-dimensional technique, after its appearance, underwent some modifications until reaching the one applied today. Currently, 0.018 slot brackets are used in incisors and 0.022 in canines, premolars and molars. Its main objective is the torque control of anterior teeth in various orthodontic mechanics. There is an advantage in terms of chair and treatment time, as there is no need to bend the wire, the treatment becomes faster. In many treatments, the technique proves to be effective, in patients with Class I, II and III tooth position, cases with and without extraction, and especially in sliding mechanics and anterior retraction.
