Cementing agents in fixed prosthesis: a literature review

The objective of this work was to carry out a literature review in order to report the use of cementing agents, also presenting their characteristics and pattern. The design of the present study was directed to a narrative literature review. In this research of inclusion of the system and exclusion were selected to select the objectives, being included the articles related to the Portuguese languages, the articles published in the last 15 years, published in the last 15 years, available in full text. Around it, duplicate publications were excluded. There are several types of cementing agents available on the market today. One way to classify them is divided into two groups, adhesives (resinous and heated cements) and non-adhesives (zinc phosphate and glass ionomer). The indication for the use of different adhesives has aspects, such as: relationship with the problem, since the bond strength addressed to enamel is significantly greater than that of non-adhesive cements found, since it is not found in non-adhesive cements, these act by mechanical principles. It is important for the professional to know the characteristics of each cementitious agent, so that he can master as much as possible and choose the option of each agent that best suits his clinician.
