Deep bite is a complex malocclusion with multifactorial etiology, which requires differential and specific diagnosis. The mechanics used for the treatment will depend on the patient's age and the objective to be achieved. In adult patients, treatment options include intrusion of anterior teeth through differentiated bonding of accessories, use of Ricketts' base arch, Burstone's segmented arch and anchorage devices, and extrusion of posterior teeth with second-order bends in a continuous arch. However, the best treatment choice must take into account the patient's initial facial and dental conditions, such as: facial profile, smile assessment, skeletal pattern, teeth positions and lengths, growth potential and severity of the malocclusion, to choose of the most appropriate treatment technique and mechanics for each clinical situation. This literature review aimed to discuss the forms of treatment of deep bite in adults.
