The present work sought to contest about root resorption in Orthodontics, its forms, causes and how to prevent them. Orthodontic treatment has an average duration of 2 to 3 years. Prolonged treatment being a risk for the beneficial effects in patients, including root resorption, is the shortening of the root apex caused by the pathological loss of cementum and dentin. Flammable process generated by the necessary movement, but its prolongation and intensity will define the occurrence of resorptions. Since this resorption is harmful to the crown-root relationship, it must be repeated periodically with radiographic examinations. This issue should also be recognized by the high rate of adult patients who seek orthodontic treatment and who are more susceptible to periodontal diseases that can further facilitate the occurrence of resorptions. The results found to be the best available for clinical decisions and minimizing the risks and severity of root resorption, which is the undesirable effect, is often the cause of Orthodontics due to the excessive and artificial form of or the primary manipulation of patient severity. We must always follow up our cases radiographically and treat them with caution in order to achieve success in our treatments.
