Abstract

Oral rehabilitation in regions with severe bone atrophy poses a challenge for Implant Dentistry. Extra-short implants emerge as a viable alternative, sometimes eliminating the need for bone grafting procedures. This case report describes the rehabilitation of a patient with severe maxillary bone resorption through the placement of extra-short implants, which exhibited initial stability and, after four months, osseointegration. Prosthetic splinting was used to optimize the distribution of occlusal loads. The results demonstrate that extra-short implants are an effective and safe option for patients with bone limitations, reducing surgical morbidity and treatment time.
