The aging process is inevitable and progressive over the years. To try to slow down this process we can use different procedures, surgical and non-surgical. The demand for less invasive procedures is increasing every day, due to the lower chances of complications and the time of postoperative recovery. Among the countless less invasive procedures, is the use of PDO threads, as an excellent option in non-surgical treatment for facial rejuvenation. The purpose of this literature review is to list the possible complications in the use of this material, as well as forms of treatment and prevention. The method used was the bibliographic survey of articles on the subject, available at PubMed, with a time frame from 2016 to 2021. After the reading and analysis procedures, 25 articles were selected to compose this review. We conclude that the PDO thread for facial rejuvenation proves to be effective and safe, even with a limited duration of action. When present, most complications are mild and easy to resolve, and although late and rare complications may occur, they can usually be resolved by extruding the thread.
