Clinical application of intermaxillary elastics in orthodontic: literature review

Since 1893, when elastics began to be applied in orthodontics, their evolution and improvements in elastic materials have increased, so their use in orthodontic treatments has diversified. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to review the different ways of using rubber and latex elastics. Some indications of where, when and how to apply each one of the elastics will be presented, for the professional to have support in their orthodontic finishes.
