The pursuit of lip enhancement with hyaluronic acid is a minimally invasive procedure which became increasingly popular in recent years. Despite the fact that lip fillings are apparently simple and safe, complications can occur during and after the operation, such as edema, hematomas, and even necrosis. Therefore, it is important for the dental surgeon to have a thorough knowledge of the general anatomy of the face to be able to monitor these events, resorting to the use of hyaluronidase enzymes. This article aims to report the clinical case of a complication with the use of a needle during a lip filling procedure, highlighting the importance of hyaluronidase and the correction of unsatisfactory complications after the application of hyaluronic acid to the lips. To reduce eventual symptoms, the use of hyaluronidase is recommended to reduce the excess of hyaluronic acid in the corresponding area of application.
