Dental crowing recurrence - a literature review

Abstract

Tooth crowding is represented by the discrepancy between the space required and the space present in the dental arch, both for the upper and lower arches, resulting in overlapping and rotation of the teeth. It may have as etiology genetic and environmental factors. Crowding affects about 33.3% of brazilian children in the mixed dentition phase, and its treatment may vary according to the magnitude of the problem. Orthodontic treatment aims to achieve satisfactory aesthetic and occlusal results for the patient, which is the success of this. In the literature, the studies available mostly refer to relapses and their prevention. This work is a literature review that seeks to research concepts, etiological factors and treatments related to dental crowding, considering the incidence of recurrences and possible causes.
