The aim of the study was to review the literature on the use of absolute anchorage with mini implants in orthodontic treatment. This review showed efficient clinical results, not only for routine cases in orthodontics, but also for solving the most complex ones, simplifying orthodontic mechanics and allowing shorter treatment time. With inter-radicular and extra-radicular techniques, they can be used in several clinical applications, such as intrusion, extrusion, distalization, mesialization and verticalization; retraction of anterior teeth; traction of impacted canines; provision of anchorage for orthopedic movement; correction of the occlusal plane; midline correction.
