To review the literature on the use of esthetic aligners in the treatment of dental anterior open bite in adult patients with Class I malocclusion. The design chosen was a narrative literature review. The search for articles was performed digitally, in the Virtual Health Library, PubMed and SciELO databases using the following descriptors: Anterior Open Bite; Removable orthodontic appliances; Aesthetic aligners. Publications related to the objectives listed in this research were included, as well as articles in Portuguese or English, published in the last 14 years, available in full text. Duplicate articles were excluded. The most recurrent design in the reviewed publications was systematic reviews (with and without meta-analysis), clinical trials and case reports/series. It was possible to point out that there are several ways to obtain a positive result in the correction of anterior open bite in an adult patient. For most authors, the use of orthodontic aligners was reported as a more effective, aesthetic and agile alternative when compared to conventional fixed appliances. A careful analysis of the case to be treated must go beyond the clinical conditions, ranging from socioeconomic conditions to the patient's desires, values and motivation in relation to the adoption of the offered treatment.
